Dear Parents,
In January, Brave Builders celebrated a decade of service for Indian Creek children and their families. Brave Builders began with only After School Care but had visions to create programming that would help the children and families of our community. NHJ is a unique school district in a sprawling rural setting. We do not have the YMCA, Day Cares, or the Boys and Girls Club that our neighboring school districts rely on for child care. Brave Builders wanted to offer more than just a child care service and through this vision we developed KinderClub, Summer Camp, Before School Care, and Early Release Programming. We built curriculums to assist students in the classroom, help develop positive character traits, and cultivate a passion for learning.
The education world is ever changing. We have seen our school district go from half day kindergarten to full day kindergarten, Early Release Wednesday for NHJ Staff Professional Development, and the introduction of Pre-K. Brave Builders is proud to have developed programming to assist our community with the transitions and change.
Change is inevitable! We must be open to change and understand that without change there is no growth. The first years of a child’s life are the most formidable. Our government leaders are seeing the importance of early childhood education and are looking at how to fund preschool as a part of a child’s basic education. Neighboring school district have taken initiative and implemented school operated preschool programs. After seeing the other’s initiative, discussions began with NHJ to see if our district would be following suit. Dr. Edsell confirmed he was taking a serious look at budgets for a possible takeover.
Brave Builder’s contract with NHJ is up for renewal in May 2016. With a looming take over possible we will not be renewing our contract. We are working diligently with NHJ for a possible takeover. Dr. Edsell is reviewing budgets, neighboring programs, and curriculums and will make a final decision to take over Pre-K and After School Care in two to three weeks. If NHJ decides to take over it will be for the 2016-2017 school year. Brave Builders has worked hard to establish quality programming for our community and will assist NHJ in any way possible to continue the services we have established.
We are proud of our decade of service and what we were able to accomplish for the good of our community! Our success was aided by the support of NHJ Board Members, Administration, and Staff. There are many caring and talented individuals who we thank for helping us provide quality programming. This will be a difficult transition for the Brave Builders Staff because we have made lifelong friends with the children, their families, and the NHJ Community. So many memories that will never be forgotten!
Thank you for allowing us to take part in your child’s life!
